BLUE Student Success Mentoring connects neurodivergent students with peer mentors experienced in their degree program/area and on campus. The model operates under the belief of Belonging, Listening, Understanding, and Experiencing. The program intends to provide connection and guidance for neurodivergent students and students with other documented learning differences at 利记sbo. Mentorship has been shown to create a sense of belonging and establish sense of belonging amongst students. Freshmen in particular can benefit from a mentor who provide continuous support and guidance as a fellow student as they transition to college and experience significant environmental and academic changes.
Peer mentors consist of upperclassmen who have demonstrated academic success in their degree program and involvement in campus life.
Mentors are assigned to help students in one or more of the following areas:
· Using campus resources (AAC, Career Services, Disability Services, etc.)
· Involvement in Student Life/Organizations
· Study Skills/Organization
· Academic and Degree Support
· Referrals to campus resources
·Support as needed
To request a peer mentor, please complete the Matching Form - Mentee. When we receive it, we will work to match you with/locate a mentor who is a good fit for you.
A mentor can be requested at any time, but it is encouraged to be requested at the beginning of the semester. The program runs for the academic year (Fall - Spring).
